Is every year going to be a hot mess? A lot of huge things happened this year, but honestly it was so much that I feel like I can't remember a lot of it.
Highlights:
Started the year in Tanzania (Can’t believe that was this year…)
Watched two sets of friends get married
Hung out with friends
Turned 30??
Bought a house?!?!
Gave birth?!?!??!
Yeah… Life got real really fast after I found out I was pregnant. I started out the year on safari in Tanzania after climbing Mt. Kili. Two months later, positive pregnancy test!! I had estimated that it would be 6 months between starting to try for a baby and getting pregnant, but we ended up getting pregnant before we officially started.
Turning 30 - anticlimactic. Didn’t have too many friends around, but some of the core crew all showed up and we went to Yamato’s together <3333333. I’ve had a lot of great birthdays. This one certainly felt different. I’m glad I didn’t have to clean up after a big party while that pregnant, hahahaha.Â
Buying a house - as soon as I found out I was pregnant, Alex and I basically bought the first house that we could both imagine living in. It’s a really beautiful house in a really great location. This process was looonnnggg and required much paperwork and a lot of waiting. It is/was extremely nerve-wracking. But Alex and I felt really excited about the house. We’re really glad everything worked out <3. The one thing that is somewhat anxiety inducing is how when things break it’s our problem lmfao.
The pregnancy was absolutely brutal. I might write up a list of all the things that happened to me, but the high level overview was
VOMITING - I added some vomit to the urine-scented segments of Telegraph Ave in Berkeley
Couldn’t sleep generally
Couldn’t sleep because I was listening to my heart race at nearly 80 BPM when my normal resting heart rate is <50 BPM all day every day
Couldn’t sleep because the baby was pushing on all of my organs and starting in the second trimester I felt like I was exploding. There was no comfortable position.
Knuckles swollen and could barely use my hands and couldn’t wear my wedding ring
Depression
No running
The birth + recovery - EXTREMELY anticlimactic. Baby came slightly premature after my water broke. The birth process was mostly getting drugs hung on my IV and trying to sleep while being a little too jazzed up because I was about to become a freaking mother.
DA BABY <3 - So fuckin’ cute and also smells amazing. I was very worried about being put off of the baby due to his stinky poos, but his poos somehow smell good to me. Â
I could go on and on about the baby. He’s pretty colicky and so can be quite difficult, to say the least. But when he’s settled down at night and sleeping and I’m laying next to him, it feels like nothing else matters.Â
Africa was amazing <333
Found out I was pregnant on this trip to Barbados
Made Master in TFTÂ
Gonna miss these cats.
I thought I was showing a lot in california, but in retrospect...
Fermi fed me in Cali. It was amazing
The legendary Cali strawberries... I sure will miss them.
Redwoods w/ the crew <3
Saying goodbye to Sciarappa =(
As a new parent, I'm hoping to survive 2026 with my sanity and employment intact.
